THE MUSIC MAN

Auditions:     March 19 – 7:00 PM

Call Backs:     March 22 – 7:00 PM

(Special accommodations will be made for actors who cannot attend these dates.  Email for special requests:  performing@stagerightproductions.net).

Music and dance will be taught on Monday, March 19, please come prepared to sing and dance in clothes you can move in.  Script sides will be used for call backs on Thursday, March 22.  Saturday rehearsals for music begin on April 7 (9:00 AM to 1:00 PM) and run through June 9.  NOT every actor is called on every Saturday! All roles are available.  There is a $95 participation fee for covering costumes, scripts, etc. for those cast.  Limited scholarships are available.

Soloist and quartet rehearsals on Wednesdays, May 9, May 16, June 13 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  A detailed schedule will be provided at auditions.

Main Stage rehearsals begin June 16, but are generally Monday through Thursday, 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM.  Not all cast members are called every night.  Tech week July 14, 15, 16 & 17.  Day of Rest, July 18 and Final Dress Rehearsal on July 19.

Performances:

July 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29, August 2, 3, 4 & 5.

(All Tech rehearsals and performances are mandatory – no exceptions)

Great opportunity for the whole family to participate in a show! 

Stage Right Productions has always provided family friendly shows and is looking forward to producing this musical classic with actors of all ages.   UNIQUE to Stage Right, in addition to the regular casting for the show there is an opportunity for other family members, or families as a whole (space is limited), who cannot commit to the entire production schedule to still be a part of the show.  We will have “River City Families” who are involved in at least three full cast numbers throughout the show.  Our “River City Families” will be placed on stage together as a family and will have the opportunity to sing with the cast in lively familiar tunes.

AUDITIONS for River City Families:              April 22 at 6:00 PM

All family members wanting to be in the show (ages 2 and up) must be present at audition.  Rehearsal schedule for “River City Families” will be available at audition.  If you are interested to reserve space in the audition, please email us at performing@stagerightproductions.net.  Audition will include; brief introductions, short improv, and be prepared to sing as a family a simple song of your choice.  Participation fee for “River City Families” is $45 per family member.

STEEL MAGNOLIAS

Auditions:     April 12  - 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM  at Faith Lutheran Parish Hall (4000 San Juan Ave.)

Call Backs:     April 13 – 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM  at Stage Right Productions (8377 Tampico Court, Fair Oaks).  

Actors do not need to prepare.  Cold read sides will be provided for general auditions.  All roles are available.  There is a $65 participation fee for covering costumes, scripts, etc. for those cast.  Limited scholarships are available.

Rehearsals are primarily on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning April 23 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, until June 15.  Rehearsals then switch to Fridays (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM), Saturdays (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM) and Sundays (4:00 PM to 7:30 PM).  (NO REHEARSAL June 29 or 30).  Tech week July 1, 2 & 3.  Show opens Thursday, July 5.  Performances: July 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 & 15.

Roles, in order of appearance:

·      Truvy Jones – 40ish.  Owner of the beauty shop.

·      Annelle Dupuy-Desoto – 19.  Beauty shop assistant.

·      Clairee Belcher – 66ish.  Widow of former mayor.  Grande dame.

·      Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie – 25.  Prettiest girl in town.

·      M’Lynn Eatenton – 50ish.  Shelby’s mother. Socially prominent career woman.

·      Ouiser (pronounced “Weezer”) Boudreaux – 66ish.  Wealthy curmudgeon.  Acerbic but loveable.

The women in this play are witty, intelligent, and above all real characters.  They are in now way, shape or form are meant to be portrayed as cartoons or caricatures.
